With enough interest and participation, this group can include a greater range of activities (Shakespeare, Plutarch, Literature) following curriculum from the CMEC.

THE GATHERING
We are a year-round cooperative for Christian homeschool families that are committed to the Charlotte Mason Philosophy of Education. It is our aim to implement the principles and methods of a CM Education, recognizing that every child is born a person; we therefore seek to educate that whole person, not just his mind. This is pursued by cultivating a Christian worldview, developing relations with all of God's creation, and practicing our belief that education is "an atmosphere, a discipline, a life."
We meet Thursday mornings around 9:30a at several parks in the greater Shelbyville, KY area. There is no cost to join, except for the cost of required materials (but many are free and/or in the public domain!). We do ask for a signed commitment form, and we do require participation in the Book Club.

Currently, our Book Club meets virtually (on Google Meet) on the 2nd Monday night of each month, from 7:30-9p. We are reading through Mother Culture, by Karen Andreola.
Participation in the Book Club is a requirement for joining The Gathering.

Rose Cottage School is a tuition based Charlotte Mason homeschool enrichment program serving families living in and around Colorado Springs, Colorado. 1st-5th grade students experience the enjoyment of learning with their peers by participating in our weekly offerings. We meet Tuesday afternoons for Nature Study and Thursday mornings for The Arts (Music, Art, Shakespeare, Handicrafts, and more). Students can participate in one or both programs. Parents gain support by having an experienced CM home educator supplement their core curriculum. Then come join us – families who embrace the Charlotte Mason philosophy – at the 2024 Charlotte Mason Family Camps. We feature morning sessions for both parents and children, daily nature walks with nature journaling, nourishing al fresco meals, a beautiful lake for boating and fishing, an array of afternoon occupations, hymn and folk singing as well as folk dancing, bonfires, a maker’s market and a family showcase to display what was learned in the 2023-24 school year.

The Children’s Gathering
The Children's Gathering is our Short Morning of Lessons for Charlotte Mason Families.
We gather together every Friday morning for Hymn Singing, Old and New Testament Bible Recitations, a Psalm Recitation, and a Poetry Recitation. We also have a lesson in Physical Geography, Swedish Drill, and Shakespeare, too!

Fieldwork Fridays
“Fieldwork” is essentially nature study. We get out in nature and explore it together! Fieldwork Fridays are a great place to connect with other homeschool families and learn about the Charlotte Mason approach to nature study. This is a relaxed group that welcomes homeschoolers that use any methodology in the home. Charlotte Mason experience and/or application is not needed to enjoy our group, it simply acts as a framework to aid in planning our outings and group activities!

We dropped out of our hybrid school. We have a lot of friends there, but if you don’t go there, you don’t have any time to connect with friends outside of the school because the workload is so large. So we will be fully homeschooling next year but I want my kids to grow and have relationships with other children as they get older! It makes me really sad how hard it is to have solid relationships these days that actually last. Really wanting to find likeminded Bible believing Christians focused on raising their kids with truth, goodness, and beauty to sign kids up with friends to do sports together, open gyms, play and fun! And maybe if we’re studying the same time periods we could also work on school together!

Join us at our 2024 annual gathering from July 25-27, 2024, in Wilmore, Kentucky! This conference will be a time of exploration and growth as we unpack Charlotte Mason’s ideas on handwork, life skills, and the joy of making. We’ll study the impact of creative work and discuss how artistry connects to many areas of the feast, sometimes in surprising ways. Our sessions will honor the old and embrace the new, and of course, we’ll live out what we teach as makers of beautiful and useful things! We hope to see you there!
