Feast of Ideas Retreat: A Charlotte Mason Gathering

You are invited to experience beauty, goodness, and truth through the lens of Charlotte Mason’s philosophy of education at the Feast of Ideas Retreat: A Charlotte Mason Educational Gathering. Whether you are an experienced Charlotte Mason educator or you haven’t yet met Charlotte Mason’s philosophy, you are welcome to join us as we joyfully immerse ourselves in Charlotte Mason’s principles for education.

The 2027 Feast of Ideas Retreat plenary sessions will feature experienced Charlotte Mason educator, Dawn Garrett! Dawn will be speaking on the teacher as guide, philosopher, and friend.

Plan to experience additional break-out sessions with speakers from Living Feast Collective! And, of course, no Charlotte Mason gathering would be complete without folk songs, folk dancing, composer study, nature journaling, book discussion, handicrafts, and a lively Shakespeare performance.

This retreat will be held Thursday, January 14, 2027, 4:00pm until Saturday, January 16, 2027, 12:00pm, at The Crossing Retreat Center in Lexington, Nebraska.

Welcome, Mamas! We invite you to come and chat about all things Charlotte, ask questions, share resources, and discuss her volumes.

We meet every second Friday from 6:30-9:30 PM. Moms only, nursing babes welcome.

We read Mason's work with intention every month and gather to listen to how each is grappling with Mason's ideas. Taking turns hosting allows us to connect in comfort and confidentiality.

A greatness of thinking - or magnanimity, according to Mason - seasons our conversation. Essentially, when at odds, we "agree to disagree agreeably." We all homeschool differently and have different backgrounds, but we're committed to coming together to create meaningful, encouraging dialogue that seeks to understand Mason's ideas and one another.

As Mason wrote, education is truly an atmosphere, a discipline and a life. That children are whole persons. That the Holy Spirit is the Divine Teacher & we parents are co-collaborators in their education. That we mothers are being taught by the same means. As we seek to authentically interpret her work, we read with this lens in mind.
