Cultivate
A Christian, Charlotte Mason community currently serving elementary and middle school. We meet once a week and use the Alveary curriculum. Traditional co-op format with monthly equipping sessions.
Charlotte Mason Monterey Bay
Charlotte Mason Monterey Bay is a community of home-educating families dedicated to implementing Charlotte Mason’s philosophy in their homes. All levels of understanding are encouraged and welcome!
In alignment with Charlotte Mason’s Philosophy, this group upholds a biblical worldview, affirming that the Word of God is true and serves as the foundation of our beliefs.
Our purpose is to encourage and support families who are committed to learning and applying Charlotte Mason’s philosophy. While we warmly welcome those who are curious and exploring, our focus is on cultivating a community that is growing deep roots in Mason’s living ideas. We serve families in the Monterey Bay and Central Coast region, including Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Benito Counties.
We encourage involvement in two ways *ENGAGED* or *ROOTED*:
🌻ENGAGED: is intentionally designed as a starting place—a space for families to observe, learn, and begin discerning whether Charlotte Mason’s philosophy is the right fit for their home. It’s not a static level, but a seasonal stage of growth.
Purpose: To offer an open door for the curious and new—to learn, and begin practicing Mason’s principles in small practical ways. We desire to cultivate a community where growth is intentional.
Families newer to Mason’s philosophy often begin at the Engaged level, taking time to learn and gently apply her ideas. Others may step directly into the Rooted level, already convinced of the life-giving nature of this method. Your journey will be unique to your family. Whatever the path, our hope is for each individual member of the family to experience personal and relational growth.
ENGAGED Offerings
* Study Group
* Nature Group
* Occasional Seasonal Outings / Family Gatherings
*Study Group (Parents Only)
Our study group is the heart of our community. Each month, we come together to thoughtfully study Charlotte Mason’s volumes, and this shared learning is what anchors everything we do. Because of that, consistent participation and commitment to the study group is a prerequisite for involvement in the broader offerings of our community.
*Monthly | Second Monday of each month at 7PM
*Nature Outings - Nature study, nature walks and outdoor exploration.
- Fridays at 10:30AM, every other week
🌻ROOTED: is for families who are actively pursuing and applying Charlotte Mason’s philosophy in their homes, or those whom are ready to. This level reflects a shared commitment to grow in understanding, build meaningful community, and walk in a common rhythm of living education.
Purpose: To provide a steady, supportive community for families practicing Mason’s method - where shared habits, conversations and experiences nurture both the heart and the home.
ROOTED Offerings

✨Community Standards for all levels of engagement ✨
We understand that finding a group that truly fits your family’s needs can be challenging—there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. That’s why we offer the flexibility to connect in two ways. Community cannot grow without intentional connection. So before making a decision…
We ask that you:
* Prayerfully consider if this is where the Lord is leading your family in this season.
* Commit to CMMB as one of your primary homeschool groups
* Study Group participation
* Participate in at least 2 offerings to build community (rooted community)
We look forward to connecting with you!
Long Island Christian Charlotte Mason Reading Group
We are a group of Christian Charlotte Mason homeschooling moms who have been reading the volumes together monthly since 2018. We meet once a month on Sunday night 7-9:30pm at our various homes throughout Nassau and Western Suffolk Counties. We get together with our kids for bi-monthly nature walks and other activities. If you are interested in the Charlotte Mason life, please contact me!
Commonplace of Arlington
This is a discussion and support group for parents who are interested in or are already using the philosophy of Charlotte Mason in their home school.
We will start in August of 2025 with "Start Here," a study guide by Brandy Vencel. This is a great study for new-comers to the philosophy, but it also has plenty to ponder for the experienced. We will have time each meeting to talk about what's happening in our own home schools and celebrate the good as well as share ideas for those trouble spots. Meetings will be one Saturday morning each month.
Reach out for more details and tell me why you are interested in joining a Charlotte Mason discussion group. Looking forward to getting to know you!
Cottage Co-op
Cottage Co-op is a riches co-op for students aged 6 to 12 years old.
Our Friday meetings begin with gathering all together as families for
our folk song and hymn, announcements, and benediction.
Forms 1 & 2 enjoy time in Collective learning about a classic poet, artist,
and composer. Forms 1 & 2 also alternate weekly between nature study
or handicrafts. Both forms then end their co-op day with a game time
devoted to play, listening skills, and folk dances.
A typical Kinderleben class spends the first portion playing outside
making mud pies, rolling around in leaves, and searching for the largest
worms. We come inside to read stories and poems, recite a bible verse,
and learn new fingerplays. We might play with wooden train tracks or
clay, or practice sewing before all working together to clean up.
Ambleside-by-the-Sea
Ambleside-by-the-Sea is a parent-led, two-day-a-week homeschool collaborative providing students from preschool through high school years with a Charlotte Mason education. We use living books, narration, and short lessons that spread a wide “feast” across varied subjects. We seek to provide an environment that allows our children to come into direct contact with vital and living ideas from great minds, and to nurture students in forming relations with all that is about them in substance and idea: in words, music, art, science, nature, mathematics, and all that is good, true, and beautiful.
We cover subjects including:
Math Drill / Math Lab / Math Games
Natural History / Science / Nature Notebooking
U.S. History
Ancient History
Plutarch’s ‘Lives’ (Forms III & IV)
Children’s Plutarch (Form II)
Shakespeare
Literature
Geography / Map Drill / Map Making
Poetry / Recitation
Latin (Forms III & IV)
Music / Folk Dancing / Composer Study
Art / Artist Study
Handicrafts
P.E.: Swedish Drill
We also have additional events together as a community including three book club meetings each year for all ages, and one or two handicraft fairs.
Because our intent is to cover academic subjects as well as those subjects often considered “enrichment subjects,” we meet twice weekly and in some ways function similarly to a “university model school;" families can structure their days at home to fill in around the spines and core subjects we cover on our days together. Upper form students have several assignments to complete during their days at home, including literature and writing assignments, and science readings in preparation for science experiments done together.
Ambleside-by-the-Sea moms also meet monthly to read and discuss Charlotte Mason's volumes, and we are always happy to have more people join us!

Remsen Area Charlotte Mason Book Club
Hello! I am starting a Charlotte Mason book club. I would like to eventually grow to something more co-op like, but for now, I want to find other Charlotte Mason moms in the area. I hope it can be a relaxed fun environment as we figure out how to educate our children the Mason way. Feel free to reach out, I would love to discuss ideas with you.
Wholehearted Collective
We offer Charlotte Mason drop off homeschool classes, a mother-child preschool, support nights and experiences for mothers, and drop off day camps for Minnesota and western Wisconsin homeschool families. Classes meet at Katherine Abbott Park in Mahtomedi, MN on Thursdays 9am-12pm. We also offer a free weekly nature group, with guided adventures in the most inspiring and delightful locations we can find every Monday and Wednesday afternoon, mostly in the east metro. With the Wholehearted Collective you can expect to enjoy hidden waterfalls, beautiful forest clearings, surprising little trails, and quiet beaches, away from crowds and chaos. We host monthly community dinners, group camping trips, date nights, and more. Drop in anytime to make lasting friendships by adventuring together. https://wholehearted-collective.com/
