Feast of Ideas Retreat: A Charlotte Mason Gathering

You are invited to experience beauty, goodness, and truth through the lens of Charlotte Mason’s philosophy of education at the Feast of Ideas Retreat: A Charlotte Mason Educational Gathering. Whether you are an experienced Charlotte Mason educator or you haven’t yet met Charlotte Mason’s philosophy, you are welcome to join us as we joyfully immerse ourselves in Charlotte Mason’s principles for education.

The 2026 Feast of Ideas Retreat plenary sessions will feature experienced Charlotte Mason educator and co-editor of Commonplace Quarterly, Mariah Kochis.

Plan to experience additional break-out sessions with speakers from Living Feast Collective! And, of course, no Charlotte Mason gathering would be complete without folk songs, folk dancing, picture study, nature study, book discussion, handicrafts, and a lively Shakespeare performance.

This retreat will be held Thursday, January 15, 2026, 4:00pm until Saturday, January 17, 2026, 12:00pm, at The Crossing Retreat Center in Lexington, Nebraska.

“A Day At Ambleside” Fall Conference

Join us for a Back-to-School mother's workshop on August 15, 2025, at Longfellow's Wayside Inn in Sudbury MA, simulating an entire school day according to Charlotte Mason's principles. Mothers will read living books, take a Nature walk, have lunch at the Inn, do artist and composer study, narrate Plutarch, watercolor on the grounds, do a handicraft, and more. The group meets the second Monday night of the month from 7 pm-9:30 pm. The group is made up of homeschooling moms with children from newborns to others who have finished. We have been meeting for over seven years and have read thru the series at least once. If you find yourself here, you've heard the name Charlotte Mason. Maybe you know she encouraged time outside, or used books to teach many subjects, but you’re not sure her ideas could help you or your children.

Whether you’re homeschooling or not, Charlotte Mason’s wisdom centers on who children are and what they need, which transcends beyond education, impacting our parenting and the culture of your home.

If you’re curious to learn how Miss Mason’s philosophy can inspire wonder, build connection, and foster good habits, I hope you’ll consider joining me for a summer discussion group!

We’ll meet 3 to 6 times between June-August. It’s free, we’ll meet at a public location in Richardson, you can come once or every time, and there will be no pre-reading required.

The reason I’m excited to share this learning pod opportunity with families is because I think that they would appreciate its uniquely nurturing and Christ centered setting. Because it is very small, the children receive quality attention to help them flourish in every way. The learning experience encourages them to interact with Jesus in every moment and idea as they discover their full and beautiful design in His likeness.

Look forward to meeting you and your child in person! I will have the pleasure and honor to be spending time with the little ones during open house. I have been practicing as a psychotherapist for more than 15 years.
