Hi families! My vision for a group that meets in our area is to have meet ups with our kids where we focus on building relationships and community, while following CM methods to introduce our kids to rich literature, art, music, etc. There is no current group meeting, but I am wanting to start one and would love to have parent input as we build a group together.

Flourish Cottage School: A Charlotte Mason Cooperative

We meet three times a month in Gainesville on Fridays and currently delegate teaching subjects to parents. We have a few in a “preschool” room, and school aged children separated into two groups: ages 6-9 and 10-14. Currently we start with hymns and Bible, followed by handicrafts (lower forms), ASL(upper) Shakespeare(upper), Church History(upper), Literature(lower), Sol-fa (lower). We wrap up with poetry and folk songs and eat lunch together. We are looking for Christian families committed to Charlotte Mason’s educational philosophies.

Among the Oaks is a gathering of Charlotte Mason home educators and their children in the Triangle Area of North Carolina who seek to experience that which is true, good, and beautiful together through time in nature. We meet weekly and offer Riches Days, a mother's book club, and regular hikes.

Starting a Group in Charleston, WV

My family recently moved to Charleston, WV and as far as I can tell there isn’t a local CM group. I’d like to start a gathering for children and their families.

I envision beginning with a fortnightly nature study/walk to let our children delight in the wonder and beauty of creation. I’d also like to offer a monthly meet up for mums to read through Charlotte’s volumes or other related material.

We meet once a month to discuss a few chapters of one of Charlotte Mason's volumes. We take one year to discuss each book. 2023-2024 is for Part One of Ourselves.

Charlotte Mason Book Club

Our group begins reading through one of Mason’s volumes each summer. Parents and children meet at my home in Greenville Texas, bi-weekly. Children play outdoors while parents (and babies) stay inside to discuss the chapters.

During the school year, we transition to a parents-only monthly meeting, in the evenings, to finish the volume.

Readings are split up and assigned at the beginning of the summer. Feel free to jump in any time.

This moms book club is starting by reading through Mind to Mind by CM & Karen Glass. We are meeting Thursday evenings in the home of one of the members to build our understanding of CM philosophy & create a stronger homeschool community.
