Lyon Acres Early Years Preschool

Lyon Acres Children's House is a nature-based early years drop-off program on twenty wooded acres in Willington, Connecticut — rooted in Charlotte Mason's philosophy of living books, nature study, practical life, and the unhurried rhythms of the natural world.

We offer two small sessions Monday through Thursday, August through June. Each session welcomes two enrolled children into our family for a total group of 6 children, moving through the day together on trails, in the wildflower meadow, around the family table, and in our woodland discovery room. Our days include ninety minutes of outdoor time in all weather, seasonal snack prepared together, tea, living books read aloud, poetry, gentle conversational Spanish, and the riches — music most weeks with a family member who has twenty years of pre-k experience, and cooking most weeks with a family member who has fifteen years of food program experience.

Morning session serves children ages 2½ to 4. Afternoon session serves children ages 3½ to 6. Tuition is $1,200 per month. Every enrollment begins with a tour.

Enrolling now for September 2026. Spots are extremely limited.

Big Bend Nature Explorers

This group follows AO's nature study rotation, and we meet bi-weekly at various locations in the Big Bend Florida area. This is a great group to get plugged into at any point in the year. Parents take turns teaching observations lesson, followed by nature journaling and a hike. All ages are welcome. Our group at this point is upper elementary and below but has slowly been aging up. We meet on alternating Mondays.

Spread the Feast Community is a community for home educators and families in Shelby County and the surrounding areas interested in learning about the Charlotte Mason method and philosophy of education. Our primary goal is to be a place of encouragement for parents on their homeschooling journey, and to grow in community with one another.

We also provide learning opportunities for the children such as clubs, meet-ups, and field trips, so they too can grow in community and friendship with one another. Spread the Feast is open to all that are interested in learning more about the Charlotte Mason method and philosophy of education. We welcome CM veterans, those transitioning to CM, those that are just beginning to learn about CM, those that are simply curious about CM, and everyone in between.

We host an evening book discussion once a month for parents (and "babes in arms” welcome) where we read and discuss the Charlotte Mason volumes or books about her philosophy. We also have mother culture and family events, clubs (scouting, nature), nature outings, "early years" meet-ups, and more!
