Rooted | A Charlotte Mason Community - is for homeschooling families who are dedicated to implementing Charlotte Mason’s philosophy of education in their homes. All levels of familiarity with Mason’s work are welcome!
In alignment with Charlotte Mason’s Philosophy, this group upholds a biblical worldview, affirming that the Word of God is true and serves as the foundation of our beliefs.
Our purpose is to encourage and support families who are committed to learning and applying Charlotte Mason’s philosophy. As we welcome those who are curious and exploring, our focus is on cultivating a community that is growing deep roots in Mason’s living ideas. We serve families in Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Benito Counties.

We welcome families into a shared rhythm of learning and growing together. While each journey is unique, our offerings are shaped by a desire to walk with intention, side by side.
🪴Study Group (Parents Only) - Required for All Community Participation
Our study group is the heart of our community. Each month, we gather together to read Charlotte Mason’s volumes and engage in thoughtful discussion. These gatherings are what anchors our community. Rooted in this rhythm; consistent participation and commitment to the study group is a requirement for involvement in the broader offerings of our community. Monthly | Second Monday at 7PM
🌱Exploring the Method
We welcome families who are curious about Mason’s philosophy and want to learn more. Through Study Group and gentle involvement in a few gatherings, you can take time to observe, ask questions, and begin practicing the principles in your own home. Whether you’re just beginning to explore or already walking in the method, our hope is that your family finds nourishment and meaningful connection here.
🌳Walking in the Method
As understanding deepens, families begin to walk more intentionally in the method and apply Mason’s principles. These families naturally take part in the fuller rhythm of the community and help carry it forward through quiet presence, encouragement, and mutual support.
Those walking in the method are invited to:
- Join our Rooted group on the Band App for richer conversation
& ongoing encouragement
- Attend quarterly Mother Culture gatherings designed to nourish the
hearts of mothers walking in the method

Our community flows from Study Group, which anchors us in shared learning. From there, families are invited to participate in a rhythm of gatherings designed to deepen connection — with ideas, nature, and one another.

We know that finding a homeschool community that aligns with your family’s values and rhythms is a meaningful and thoughtful decision. This group is intentionally small, Christ-centered, and rooted in Charlotte Mason’s living philosophy — and we ask that each family seek the Lord before committing.
Before joining, we ask that you prayerfully consider:
*Is the Lord leading our family to grow here in this season?
*Am I able to commit to regular participation in Study Group?
*Are we willing to make this one of our primary homeschool communities?
*Are we able to take part in at least two other gatherings each term?
