Group for parents and students

Budding Naturalists: A Charlotte Mason Natural History Club

Budding Naturalists will be based on the Charlotte Mason method of nature study.
Most of our gatherings will be focused on observation and object lessons about special studies, nature walks, and “field work” activities Charlotte speaks of in Volume 1, such as sightseeing, picture painting, bird stalking, out-of-doors geography, etc.
We will also incorporate singing a hymn or folk song, poetry or recitation time, and sharing about conservation ideas. Many of our gatherings will include quiet/reflective observation, nature journal time, group narration time, masterly inactivity or nature games, and hopefully some wildcrafting and nature projects.

This club is just as much for the parent/educator as it is for the children, and there is the expectation that parents will fully participate and enjoy learning alongside the children, and/or incorporate nature study into the rhythm of their lives and homeschool.

For 1st-8th grade, meeting about monthly on Thursday afternoon. Minimal cost, plus required supplies. Registration each summer with club meetings throughout the school year.

High schoolers should reach out to learn about helping lead Budding Naturalists through the Junior Naturalist program.
